It is what it says it is
United Sales – the end result of what amounts to two long and successful careers – two friends who found themselves on parallel paths coming together to form what has become one of the most unique rep firms in the music industry.

Ed Rider has been in the music industry for as long as he can remember. After serving in the Army, he joined Southland Musical Merchandise Corporation in 1972 as a sales trainee and began a career that has spanned over 30 years. He is the recipient of over 50 sales awards including several lifetime achievement awards.

Wendel Hartman spent 18 years in nearly every aspect of music retail. He worked in sales, advertising, sound system installation, recording, and ownership and management. He has been a manufacturing rep for the last 20 years and has won more than his share of sales awards as well. Both he and Ed are also accomplished musicians. It was their passion for music that got this whole thing started in the first place.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. Many years ago, these two came together as reps for the same company and began a journey of professional accomplishment and personal friendship that endures still. They found that their work ethic was the same – their standards of integrity were identical – and their genteel ‘southern’ sense of hospitality and customer service was instinctive. It was then that the seeds of United Sales were sown.

Today United Sales consists of five offices covering 13 states. We represent some of the finest manufacturers in the music industry, all of whom share the same fundamental philosophy on which Ed and Wendel started this company. It’s really very simple – offer quality profitable products to our dealers. Tell the truth…..always. And probably at the core of it all, treat your customers like family. Here in the south, it’s just what we do!
